About FPN

We know our way around business

Who We Are

We are FPN

Antony Fanshawe

Antony Fanshawe

Director

I am a chartered accountant, and I have an MBA from the University of Bath. I am also a serial owner manager.

Having qualified with PWC I set up Fanshawe Lofts, which specialised in corporate finance and recovery on the South Coast in 1990. Rosemary joined us shortly afterwards. We sold Fanshawe Lofts to Begbies Traynor in 2008. Leaving Begbies at the end of 2012, Rosemary and I set up FPN at the beginning of 2013.

Having been a licensed insolvency practitioner for some 30 years, I am asked from time to time to act as an expert witness in litigation matters where a combination of accountancy and insolvency expertise is required.

Aside from eating (obviously) I enjoy sailing, old cars, dogs, London, a lot of Italian things and the company of friends, my wife and children.

Director

I qualified as a chartered accountant in 1987, and went on to work for KPMG for a few years before joining an exciting and fast growing new specialist practice, Fanshawe Lofts, in 1991 to become their investigation and Corporate Finance resource. I became a partner in 1994, leading the development of Fanshawe Lofts’ corporate finance capability while working closely with the corporate recovery team to run and sell businesses. I was a key member of the team that developed Fanshawe Lofts’ reputation and growth through the 90’s and early noughties.

In addition to my chartered accountancy qualification I also hold the ICAEW Corporate Finance qualification and have an MBA from Reading University (1998).

In 2008 we (that is Antony and I) were approached by a national firm who were keen to expand into our home market place and so we decided to sell the Fanshawe Lofts business to them. Having left that firm, in early 2013, Antony and I set up FPN to offer our corporate finance, recovery and strategic advisory services to owner managed businesses.

As you see, although we are a new practice we are a very well established team, playing again to our strengths, but this time around with more of an emphasis on corporate finance. We have already completed a number of high profile transactions and have a strong pipeline.

My clients tell me that I am a strong analytical thinker, someone who can see a route through complexity to sometimes unusual, but straightforward solutions, a good communicator, and very determined to achieve a result for my client.

I am comfortable working with companies of all shapes and sizes. Having run and sold my own business I empathise with business owners and the issues they face. It always gives me a buzz to see them realise the fruits of their labours.

I am a huge fan of Wales and Welsh rugby, I have a rugby playing son and two daughters, and three dogs. I love horse riding and running and am building a family house with my husband.

This is the text of an email from Stephen Davies QC, head of Guildhall Chambers in Bristol regarding the resolution, through mediation, of a complex insolvency dispute on which Antony acted as an expert witness alongside Stephen, who was Senior Counsel.

“Goodness me. Didn’t you do well against all the odds – Very well done. Stephen Davie

I have found Rosemary’s client skills, transactional discretion and deal making capabilities, and Antony’s understanding of his own and his clients’ trades coupled with a strong ability to overcome obstacles intelligently and creatively to be outstanding. Sean Davies

Our Clients Are Like Family

Here are a few things that they have said about us.

We were recently involved in a substantial claim by a Liquidator against former directors for misfeasance and other heads of claim which required expert input from an accountant who ideally also held an insolvency licence. He was needed to advise on the losses caused by the directors activities. We were recommended to instruct Antony Fanshawe of FPN and he subsequently provided an excellent in depth report. Furthermore he later attended successful settlement negotiations. In fact, it was his clear understanding of the figures and his ability to clearly explain his loss calculations and methodology that persuaded the opponents to settle before trial.

We have since retained Antony to advise on another two matters of substance (one of which is not insolvency related) and in both cases we have received plaudits from both the clients and senior counsel in relation to his work and in particular his grasp of the complex issues.

It was his clear understanding of the figures and his ability to clearly explain his loss calculations and methodology that persuaded the opponents to settle before trial. David Oliver
